Prescription Privileges for Psychologists:

Perceptions, Knowledge and Attitude Change of Oregon Psychologists

Chair of the Psychology Department, Tanya Tompkins, will work with students Amber Hay and Jenna Johnson to investigate "Prescription Privileges for Psychologists: Perceptions, Knowledge and Attitude Change of Oregon Psychologists.

With more than a half of all states having considered legislating prescriptive authority, an immense amount of time and money has been invested. It is essential to understand whether professional opinions regarding prescription privileges are grounded in knowledge about the issue.

The study aims to assess the knowledge and attitudes of licensed psychologists in Oregon following a veto that prevented it from becoming the third state with prescription privileges for psychologists.

Students Robyn Dolson, Allison Elliot, Allyna Murray and Jessica Lucas have also contributed significantly to the success of the project.
