Using the Linfield WildCat Catalog

Check the Linfield Libraries Catalog, WildCat to see if materials (books, music, videotapes, etc.) are owned by Linfield and to see whether the libraries subscribe to a specific periodical (newspaper, magazine, or journal) title. You will not find individual articles in WildCat, just periodical titles. There are several ways you can search WildCat; Keywords, Subject, Author, or Title.

Keywords

Words pertaining to your subject that appear someplace in the catalog entry. If you have a topic but don't know the specific items you want, this is the best way to start. When you find a good item record for your topic, click on the L.C. subject terms to search by subject. This will give you material more relevant to your topic.

These are specific Library of Congress subject headings. If you do not have a specific subject heading, it is best to start with a keyword search.

Author

Name (last name, first name). For example: Smith, John

Title

If you are not sure about the exact title, use keywords. For example, if you want the book, Our Forests, Our Future, but you are not sure of the exact title, do a keyword search on forests future.

NOTE: If you do not find what you want ,click on "search Summit " for more choices.

If you do not find it there, try WorldCat, a world catalog.
