As Linfield College students you may borrow books through the Orbis Cascade Alliance's catalog, Summit, an online union catalog representing the holdings of the academic library members in Oregon and Washington. If you live near or use any of the libraries, you can pick up and drop off your books at that library. For example, if you live in Stayton and attend Linfield classes in Salem, you can request books online that are available in the Summit catalog, order them through the system, and pick them up at the Willamette University library. Check Borrowing from Summit Libraries for information. Check the map for Summit libraries in your area. Please Note: To request items on Summit, you must have had the barcode on your Linfield student ID card entered in Linfield's library circulation system. If the system indicates that your barcode number is not valid, please contact Carol McCulley, the Distance Learning Librarian, at 1-800-452-4176 or 503-883-2595 or the circulation desk at 503-883-2261. Here's how to borrow through the Summit catalog: 1. From the Linfield Libraries homepage, click on Summit. 2. When you have found a book to request, click on "Request This Item." 4. Select "Linfield" as the institution with which you are affiliated and click on "Submit Above Information." 5. Enter your name and your barcode number-- make sure that you include all of the numbers and that there are no dashes or spaces between the numbers. IF YOU LIVE near an Orbis Cascade Alliance
library: 7. Choose your local Orbis Cascade Alliance
library as your pick up institution. 8. Choose a pick up location at that library.
Click on submit. The requested item will be delivered to that
library for you to pick up. You will be notified by
e-mail from Nicholson Library when the book arrives at the pick up location and it will be held
there for 5 days. IF YOU DO NOT LIVE near an Orbis Cascade
Alliance library or you want your items mailed to
your home: 7. Leave Linfield as your pick up
institution. 8. Select "DCE via mail" as your pickup
location. Click on submit. The books you request will arrive at the Jereld
R. Nicholson Library on the McMinnville campus in
3-4 days and we will ship them immediately to your
mailing address by first class mail. However, it is
quicker to use a local Orbis Cascade Alliance
library if you live near one. Check the status of your Summit book. Go to the Your Account link on our library homepage. Enter your name and library barcode. Go to check holds to see the status of your requested books. If you need to mail the books back to the McMinnville campus, remember to allow time for mailing or you can drop the books off either at the McMinnville campus (there is a drop box in front of the Jereld R. Nicholson Library) or the Portland campus. *If you have further questions about Summit or need assistance accessing Linfield Libraries homepage, please contact Carol McCulley, The Distance Learning Librarian, at 1-800-452-4176 or 503-883-2595. 2/07 |
