EBSCOhost contains these databases that will be useful: 

Academic Search Premier:  Full text articles across disciplines from core popular and scholarly periodicals, 1985 to present.

CINAHL comprehensive full text for nursing & allied health journals, 1981 to present.

Health Source: Consumer Edition a collection of full text health information  from consumer health magazines.               

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition scholarly full text journals on many medical disciplines.

Health Technology Assessments provides details of completed and ongoing health technology assessments aimed at improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care.

MasterFILE Premier: multidisciplinary full text database, 1975 to present.

Lexis-Nexis: contains full text articles from major newspapers, business, legal, & reference information

 

ELECTRONIC RESOURCES:

Europa World: provides political and economic information in over 250 countries and territories.  Allows you to compare tables and charts of international statistics that can be viewed online or downloaded in .csv format.

 

WEB RESOURCES:

American Medical Association, FREIDA Online: lists information for graduate medical education programs, including specialties, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Association of American Medical Colleges: serves as a representative of the medical community to advance and improve health and health care.  Site includes information on medical schools and their applicants, students, matriculants, and graduates.

Bureau of Health Professions: An arm of the Health Resources and Services Administration BHP has information for Health Professional Shortage Areas, the United States Health Workforce Personnel Factbook and also the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis and which includes a reports on Physician supply and demand: Projections to 2020.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention: The CDC is one of the major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services.  The CDC serves to help promote health and disease prevention for the US.

Statistical Abstracts of the United States: 2009 from the US Census Bureau includes statistics on the social, political and economic organization of the United States.  Provides compiled data from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and other Federal agencies.  The electronic version has downloadable tables that can be sorted.

US Census Bureau: collects a variety of data on the United States people and economy since 1790.  Data on population, employment, and housing are all accessible through this site.  Most data is downloadable via Excel or .csv format.

World Health Organization: works to improve world health through global intitatives.  Monitors and assess health trends of countries within the United Nations system.  Site contains various publications of the WHO along with statistical databases such as WHOSIS (World Health Organization Statistical Information System) and Global Inforbase Online.

JSTOR  Contains complete full text archives of over a hundred scholarly journals in a wide range of fields -- including mathematics, literature, history and the social sciences. View titles by discipline. Dates vary. From first issues of journals up to 2-7 years of current issues.

PubMed This database searches MEDLINE (MEDlars onLINE) which is the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) premier bibliographic database covering he fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. It also covers other journal articles in the life sciences. 1966-present.
