Office File Format Converter for MAC 1.0

Important Notice - Please Read :
If you have Office 2008 installed, you do not need to install this Office Converter.
It is recommended that you review all files carefully after you convert to make sure it contains all the data/information you expect.
For a complete list of known issues, install and open the converter, and then go to the Help menu -> click on Office Converter Help -> Known Issues.

System Requirements: Office 2004 11.4.0 or later OR Office v. X 10.1.9 or later to open converted documents and you must also be running Mac OS 10.4.9 (Tiger) or later.

Microsoft Office Open XML File Format Converter for MAC 1.0

To be able to open, edit and save Office 2007 or Office 2008 Word documents, Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations while using Office 2004 11.4.0 OR Office v. X 10.1.9 you will need to download and install this Microsoft Office Open XML FIle Format Converter for Mac 1.0

1. Quit any applications that are running (including all Office applications, Messenger, and Office Notifications).

2. Click to download the Microsoft Open XML File Format Converter for Mac1.0 (English version)
To download Microsoft Converter in other languages, go to Microsoft Download Center.

The Office Open XML Converter volumn should automatically open on your desktop (like what is shown on the right).

NOTE: If the converter does not appear/open on your desktop automatically,double click the downloaded file -> double click on Office Open XML Converter volumn.

3. Double click on the Green Arrow with Install Open XML Converter to start the update.

4. You may be asked for your CatNet/login password before installation can begin.

5. A Microsoft License Agreement dialog window will appear

Click Continue button.

6. To continue installing you must agree to the software license agreement terms. A pop-up dialog window will appear asking you to do so.

Click Agree button.

7. A Install dialog window will appear.

Click Install button.

8. When installation is complete.

Click Quit button.

9. If installation is successful, drag the Office Open XML Converter volume

to the Trash then drag the .dmg

file you downloaded to the Trash.

Using the MAC Microsoft Office Converter

1. If you receive a Office 2007 Word document or Office 2007 PowerPoint presentation via email as an attachment -

Double click on the attachment within the email and it will activate the Office Open XML Converter automatically (this may take a few moments) and open the attachment.

Find the converter in your Hard Drive -> Applications -> Office Open XML Converter.
Open the Office Open XML Converter and drag-and -drop the 2007 Word document or PowerPoint presentation into the converter.

2. To convert several documents at one time -

Click on Convert Many Files.
Click on Add button and browse to the files you wish to convert.
Click on Convert button.
Click on the blue arrow at the end of the converted document to open it.

Drag and drop a file/folder containing documents onto the Converter window (you will see the individual documents 'open' and listed).
Click on Convert button
Click on the blue arrow at the end of the converted document to open it.

NOTE: if you want to keep a file in the list but do not want it converted, clear the check box at the beginning of the document.

3. Preferences -

Change destination of converted files by clicking on the drop down arrow -> choose Other -> navigate to a server/folder/etc.
Enable/Disable the option of opening single converted files immediately by checking or unchecking the box.

4. If a problem occurs with the conversion, click on Conversion Log and a log record will appear with details to review.

5. If you try to convert a single unrecognized file you will see text indicating it is unrecognized. If the unrecognized file is within a folder that you drag-and-drop, the unrecognized file will not appear in the listing.
