Clean Access Installation Information

ITS started implemention of the updated network authentication and validation security system for Windows Operating System's in the residence halls in February 2005. MAC Users will only need to re-register on the network.
Go Here for Frequently Asked Questions.

What this means for you:

  1. All Users in residence halls and using wireless will be redirected to the Network Registration page the first time you access the Linfield network.
  2. Window Users will be prompted to download and install a client application called Cisco Clean Access Agent (CCAAgent).
  3. Once installed, a Clean Access Agent login screen will appear on your desktop - you will need to login with your CatNet ID and Password.
  4. Clean Access will check your computer for current Windows OS Updates/Patches, Anti-Virus software and current Anti-Virus updates/definitions. *Clean Access recognize many anti-virus programs, among them are McAfee, Norton, AVG, Avast, and TrendMicro Anti-Virus. For a complete list go to Complete AV List.
  5. If your computer does not meet the minimum update requirements, you will see information dialog windows regarding the failure.
  6. Click the Continue button, then the Go to Link OR Update button - depending on what you require, you will see prompts that contain information regarding downloads or updates (this may take a few minutes to appear).
  7. Game stations (X-Box, PlayStation, etc.) - please contact the ITS Dept at support@linfield.edu or ext. 2559.

Why did ITS do this? This is being done to help protect your computer from virus, spyware, etc. attacks and bug graphicensures the network is available and safe for everyone to use. Non-updated computers were vulnerable to the attack of viruses when they are plugged into the network. This virus spreading also contributes to the slow down of our network (that effects everyone) by monopolizing available bandwidth and resources.

What if the Clean Access tells me I need current Anti-Virus Updates/Definitions? Open your Anti-Virus software and choose the button/link for Downloading Updates.

What if the Clean Access tells me I have outdated/expired Anti-Virus Software? Resubscribe to your current anti-virus software or download McAfee from the Go to Link button on the Clean Access information screen (McAfee is provided for McMinnville Linfield On Campus Student Residents Only). You must FIRST UNINSTALL your current Anti-Virus Software before installing McAfee.

What if the Clean Access tells me I have NO Anti-Virus Software? Download McAfee from the Go to Link button on the Clean Access information screen (McAfee is provided for McMinnville Linfield On Campus Student Residents Only).

What if the Clean Access tells me I need Windows Updates/Patches? Download the patches for your Windows Operating System ( XP or Vista) from Start menu -> Microsoft Updates or go to Microsoft's Update Page.

What if I get a message stating that the product key for my Windows Operating System is invalid? Windows updates will fail if your Operating System in not properly licensed. You must have a legal copy of the Windows operating system that is on your computer.
