Outlook 2011 – Junk Email Filter
Outlook has a built-in junk email filter that can be used to catch emails that slip through Linfield’s primary junk email filter (Sophos)
Set the Junk Email Filter Options
Open the Junk Email
Protection window. With Outlook open click on
in the menu at the top of the screen then click on

Assign the level of
protection. Click on the
tab and then choose the level of
protection desired. If High or Exclusive is chosen this will most likely flag
legitimate email as junk. Check the
box to delete old messages automatically.

Configure safe domains. Click on the
tab to whitelist a domain. This option can be useful if you want to
ensure that email from a specific domain is never flagged as junk. It is not recommended to whitelist your
own domain (linfield.edu) as this can allow email spoofing.

Manage blocked senders. Click on the
tab to manage the blocked
senders. Email from any domains
entered here will automatically go to the junk email folder.

Junk Email Folder - Add or Remove Messages
Move message out of Junk
Email. Click on the
folder in the folder list and then click on the email
that should not be marked as junk.

Mark as Not Junk. Click on the
icon in the ribbon at the top of
the email window and click
in the drop down menu.
Move message into Junk Email. Click on the email that should be marked
as junk then click on the
icon in the ribbon at the top of
the email and click
in the drop down menu.
