Wired Network Configuration Guide for Linfield Campus

- Open Start -> Control Panel.
- (Home View layout - choose Network & Internet -> Network and Sharing Center OR Classic View layout - choose Network and Sharing).
- Double Click on Manage Network Connection for Vista or click on Local Area Connection then Properties for Windows 7.
- Vista users Right Click on your ethernet connection (usually Local Area Connection/LAN) -> select Properties.
**If a User Account Control dialog window appears asking for permission to continue, click Continue button**
- Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) -> click Properties button.
- Select Obtain an IP address Automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address Automatically.
- Click OK button.
- Click Close button.
- Close any open windows.
- Restart your computer.

Windows XP
|
- Open Start -> Control Panel.
- (Classic View layout - choose Network Connections OR Category View layout - choose Network and Internet connections -> Network Connections).
- Right click on your ethernet connection (usually Local Area Connection/LAN) -> select Properties.
- Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> click Properties button.
- Select Obtain an IP address Automatically.
- Select Obtain DNS server address Automatically.
- Click OK button.
- Restart your computer.
Go to Connecting to the Linfield Network

- Apple menu (located at the top left corner of the desktop) -> System Preferences.
- Select Show All (located in the top left corner).
- In Internet & Wireless section, click on Network.
- Select Ethernet from the list on the left.
- Make sure the Configure IPv4 field is set to Using DHCP.
- Click Apply Now button.
- Close the Network window.
- Restart your computer.
