Setting Junk Email Level

Every Entourage account comes with a ready-made Junk E-mail folder ready for you to use. Using the Junk E-mail Protection feature, you can set your local level of protection/filtering.

1. Your Junk E-mail folder is located in your folder list.

**NOTE - It is recommend that you OPEN and check/scan the email that is in your Junk E-mail folder/mailbox BEFORE you delete it.

2. Go to Tools menu -> Junk E-mail Protection to change the protection level.

  • A Junk E-mail Protection window will open.

3. Select the Level tab.

  • Click the radio button next to the level of protection you want.
    • None – turns protection off.
    • Low – catches the most obvious junk email.
    • High – catches most junk email (some valid mail may be caught so it is a good idea to check your Junk E-mail folder before you delete any messages).
    • Exclusive – only messages whose email addresses are in the Address Book, domains in the Safe Domain list, or To Addresses in the Mailing List Manager are delivered to the Inbox. All other email messages are delivered to Junk E-mail.

4. Enable the check box for Delete message from the Junk E-mail folder other than ___ days.

  • Choose the delete junk email setting for 'older than XX days'..

5. Click OK button.

Setting Safe Domain Filter

There may be particular email senders that you do not want subjected to "junk filters"or take the risk of inadvertently being put into the Junk Email Folder (like all @linfield.edu senders). You can do this by creating a Safe Domain list.

1. Go to Tools menu -> Junk Email Protection.

2. A Junk E-mail Protection window will open.

3. Select the Safe Domains tab.

  • Type the domain(s) you want to always allow through the filter in the text box
  • Separate each domain entry by a comma (domain is the section of an email address that follows the @).

4. Click OK button.

Setting Blocked Senders Filter

This option only available in Entourage 2008

1. Go to Tools menu -> Junk Email Protection.

2. A Junk Email Protection window will open.

3. Select Blocked Senders tab

  • Type the email address(es) or domains you always want blocked by the filter in the text box.
  • Separate each entry by a comma (domain is the section of an email address that follows the @).
