Traditional and Modern Healthcare in SE Asia
This interdisciplinary course is designed to expose students to the impact of history, economy, politics, environment, culture and religion on health care in Southeast Asia. It provides a unique opportunity to study the impact of war, the environment, and social problems on the health of different populations. The two countries we will study (Vietnam and Thailand) will introduce students to diverse cultures, religious beliefs and political systems, which have resulted from disparate historical backgrounds. These differences have impacted how health care is delivered in each area, as well as the health of the people.
