2012-08-13 The Vision in Japan
Middle of a crosswalk in Ginza, Tokyo
Sorry it has been a long time since I was able to keep you updated on my time in Korea. Actually I just got back from Japan a couple weeks ago so I am still settling back into my life in Korea. I had the opportunity to go on Vision trip with my Korean Church (New Philadelphia Church) at the end of July, beginning of August. Since I was preparing for this trip I wasn’t able to update you all for the entire month before with all the trainings and sessions to help prepare ourselves for the trip as well as many of my friends leaving during that time to head back to their respective home countries.
But Japan: I am still processing everything that has happened in Japan and all the new people I was able to build a relationship with so this might be a little jumbled but I wanted to keep you all in the loop.
We left for Japan on Friday, July 27th, 2012. It is only about a two hour flight from Korea to Japan so we arrived in Japan later that day. My team of 14 people took a 2.5 hour bus ride from the airport to the church we were staying at in Noburito, Japan. They were gracious enough for all of us to stay there for an entire week. Some of the first people we were able to meet were some missionaries from Brazil. They only had a couple days left of their two month time in Japan before they headed back to Brazil. But dang they are so awesome people! I couldn’t believe how lucky we were. I am so tempted to take up Portugese now so I can talk to them more. They were so precious and had such loving hearts for the people of Japan. So we were able to fellowship with the Brazil team and really build friendships with people around the world!
Most of the week was focused on interacting with the Japanese people and just showing them how much they are loved. Everyone wants to be loved, but not everyone feels loved, so for us to come from a country that isn’t always appreciative of Japan because of the past and bless and love on the people in Japan really allowed the Japanese to open their hearts and accept the love that we wanted and desired to share with them. I was able to meet so many beautiful, talented, and creative Japanese people. I am friends with some of them now on facebook and can’t wait to cultivate that long distance relationship and when I come back be able to spend time with them again.
One of the days we also got to go to Enoshima Beach. We had the opportunity to play beach volleyball with some of the girls on the beach and it was really awesome to just meet and talk and play with them at the beach! Super nice! It was like burning hot that day but still had an amazing time.
There is so much that happened but mostly just meeting with many different people in Japan around the Tokyo and Matchida area and then some prayer walks.
Japan is amazing and I can’t wait to go back as I know I will :)
