Off-campus service learning experience focusing on health care outreach in rural areas of Eldoret, Kenya under the auspices of Open Arms International. In addition to health promotion activities, students will gain cultural insights and understanding through collaboration with local partners; visit historical, environmental, and health care sites; and engage in integrative group discussions.
Students considering applying to this course should be aware that there is a U.S. Department of State Travel Warning in place in Kenya. Linfield College will continue to consult with the State Department to monitor the situation and will also survey what other institutions with programs in Kenya are doing. Linfield reserves to right to cancel this course in the event of heightened risk which we consider insurmountable. We encourage applicants to discuss this matter with their parents.
