Study Abroad Information for Linfield Students

January Term Off-Campus Courses

All courses are subject to final approval by the various College entities responsible for the 2008-09 budget and the College Curriculum Committee.

January Term 2009 courses need to apply for LC designation under the Linfield Curriculum Revision approved by the Faculty Assembly in April 2007. It is anticipated, although not guaranteed, that LC designations will be the same for January Term 2009 courses as currently designated. It is hoped that LC designations will be determined by this coming Spring Break. Please check with the course instructor if you have questions.

PLEASE NOTE: A minimum 2.50 (effective 7/1/2008 the minimum GPA will be 2.75) cumulative GPA is required in order to apply for any Jan Term course .

Program Fees and Estimated Airfares are listed with each course description. Course content, course itinerary, program fees and the estimated airfares quoted below are subject to revision if there are compelling global factors not within Linfield's control.

Jan Term '09 Information Fairs:

Portland campus: February 11, 2008, 12-1pm, Peterson Hall, room 111
McMinnville campus: February 18 and 19, 2008, 2-4pm, Jonasson Hall

Costs NOT included in the January Term Program Fee:

All students who are involved in off-campus courses are responsible for their own meals before departure and during and after the program, however a few group meals may be included in the course fee.

Students should plan on spending an additional $550-$850 for meals and personal expenses, depending on location (this range was provided by past participants).

For the Jan Term Per Credit Fee and Jan Term Housing Holding Fee, please refer to the current college catalog (2008-2009) for these amounts.
Per Credit for JT'09 is $160 per credit x 4 = $640.
Student Housing Holding fee for JT'09 is $50.

Passports and visa fees are the responsibility of each student. Linfield will help to facilitate the visa processes and students' accounts will be charged accordingly.

Passport copies will be due no later than May 31, 2008. If copies are not turned in, participation in a JT'09 off-campus program will be jeopardized. See Student Agreement Form in the application for details.

Withdrawals after May 31, 2008 will result in full penalty of both the land and air. See Student Agreement From in the application for details.

Airfare: Linfield will pay the cost of the student's first round-trip air transportation from Portland, for eligible students. Please see the current college catalog (2008-2009) for details.

JT'09 applications are due February 22, 2008.

For Jan Term, please indicate your first, second and third choices. Students not accepted to their first choice for a Jan Term course will automatically have their applications forwarded to the professor leading their second or third choice, depending on course enrollment.
