Assistant Professor of Biology
The Biology Department of Linfield College is searching for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2014, whose research program investigates fundamental questions of animal physiology. We seek candidates who employ cutting-edge research technologies; candidates who use an omics approach (genomics, proteomics, etc.) are especially encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will teach four courses annually. A typical load consists of the following: one course (candidate’s choice) from within our Core Curriculum (Molecular Cell Biology, Evolution, Genetics, or Ecology); a course with laboratory in animal physiology; one semester of Introductory Biology for biology and health sciences-related majors; and a non-majors course (no laboratory) in area of specialty.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to, and potential for, developing a vigorous research program with undergraduates. We are open to any research program that focuses on animal biology, but we have particular interest in neurobiology. A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is required; post-doctoral experience is preferred. Linfield College is a selective, private liberal arts college where excellence in teaching and research is highly valued.
