In 2011-12 many Linfield supporters came together to provide funds to purchase a new high-fidelity simulation manikin for the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing.
Our goal of retiring Eric, who served for more than six years, was achieved and Eric has successfully been replaced. Eric has much to be proud of throughout his tenure at Linfield College, as he helped to educate more than 1,000 students through 5,000 simulations.
The new manikin will be ready for simulation this fall. The entire college community is looking forward to its arrival as it will provide enhanced simulation experiences for the next generation of nursing students.

The Experiential Learning Center provides students the opportunity to refine their nursing skills in an actual clinical site where the standards of care are maintained accordingly. Students are able to work in groups and with their instructors to integrate nursing theory with technical critical thinking skills.
Students and faculty are looking forward to utilizing the updated technology that the new simulation manikin will provide, and appreciate the usefulness of such experiential learning. Caitlin Rhodes, a 2013 nursing student is thankful that these learning experiences are available for students in the program: “The high-fidelity simulation lab gives us the opportunity to perfect our skills in an environment that sets the scene for the best possible feedback, and is as close to real as it gets.”
We are sincerely grateful for our generous alumni, faculty, staff and friends who are committed to the future of nursing at Linfield College. More information on the Linfield Nursing program can be found on the Linfield Nursing website.
