2011-12 TopCat Club Fund Report

Mickey Inns ’13 knows the importance of a well-rounded education. As a senior business major and starting quarterback for the Linfield football team, his experiences in the classroom and on the field are preparing him for a bright future. Mickey also understands the importance of philanthropy at Linfield and appreciates what donor support provides:

“As a student-athlete, I’ve personally witnessed the benefits of gifts to the TopCat Club, such as the digital video system coaches use to break down our opponents’ plays and formations, and all the enhancements to our locker room, field and stadium.”

Gifts to the TopCat Club from supporters like you enhance the student-athlete experience and set a wonderful example for current athletes like Mickey. “After I graduate, I plan on finding a way to make a monthly contribution to the TopCat Club. It’s one way I can truly give back to the program that has been so good to me.”

Key Projects Supported by TopCat Funds

• The baseball field was improved with an advanced drainage and irrigation system.
• The fitness center was expanded with focus on cardio, ball and cord equipment.
• The Hall of Fame area within the Paul Durham Foyer received a major facelift.
• Grandstands at the soccer field were revamped.
• New scoreboards for the Aquatics Center and soccer/lacrosse field were purchased.
• Athletics purchased an online video analysis program for coaches.

Listed below are just a few of the accomplishments of our talented athletic teams and individuals. Thank you for supporting our student-athletes.

Teams

• Northwest Conference championships won by: Softball, football, men’s golf and women’s tennis.
• The Linfield football team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. The program extended its own all-divisions record of consecutive winning seasons to 56.
• The Wildcats softball team reached the NCAA Division III championship game for the third straight season, finishing as national runner-up with a 47-7 overall record.
• Linfield’s women’s soccer team finished with 14-3-3 overall record, setting a school record for most victories in one season, and ended with the highest conference standing in program history.

Individuals

• Women’s pole vaulter and seven-time All-American Catherine Street set the Division III record while capturing the NCAA indoor and outdoor national championships, and was named the National Women’s Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA.
• Softball players Staci Doucette and Emilee Lepp are the No. 1 and No. 2 all-time home run hitters in Division III history. Doucette also set the NCAA career standard for runs batted in (259) while Lepp became the all-time leader in runs scored (247) and at-bats (687).
• Women’s basketball standout and No. 2 scorer in Linfield history, Gretchen Owens topped the NWC in scoring for the second straight season, with an average of 21.4 points per game. Owens earned first team all-conference and all-region honors.
• Two-time All-American Abby Olbrich is Division III Women’s West Region Senior Player of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and represented the team at the 2012 NCAA Championships. She was an all-conference selection for the fourth consecutive year.
