2011-12 Linfield Fund Report

During 2011-12, more than 2,400 alumni, parents, employees and friends of Linfield College contributed a combined $786,315 to the Linfield Fund. These gifts made an immediate impact at Linfield by providing critical student scholarships, supporting our teaching faculty and funding capital and technology improvements. Your gifts to the Linfield Fund ensure students like Jake ’14 have access to a strong education and a memorable Linfield experience.

Jake '14

Jake, a business management major from Eagle, Idaho, has thoroughly enjoyed his time at Linfield, a place he calls “a second home.” Whether he’s on the baseball field as a catcher for the Wildcats or in the classroom, Jake has come to value the relationships he’s built with his friends, teammates and professors:

“The faculty work hard to help each one of their students succeed. The entire community is pulling for one another to succeed.” –Jake ‘14

2011-12 Linfield Fund Overview
Total Donors: 2,426
Dollars Raised: $786,315

Thank you for being part of a community of donors who help students like Jake succeed. Here are a few examples of the way your gifts supported Linfield’s thriving campus communities last year:

Student Scholarships

Gifts to the Linfield Student Scholarship Fund provided scholarship assistance to 610 McMinnville and Portland campus students during 2011-12, giving them the opportunity to continue their Linfield education while focusing on academic success and extracurricular engagement – rather than worrying about how to afford their education.

A Strong Teaching Faculty

Linfield faculty are committed to educating and inspiring our students. This summer, 54 students engaged in faculty-student collaborative summer research projects, exploring topics including Burmese refugees in Thailand, dory fishermen in Pacific City and sponges in Oregon estuaries. Gifts to the Linfield Fund help support these experiences for our students and faculty. Your gifts also ensure our faculty remain current in their academic fields by supporting programs like Linfield’s Faculty Teaching and Learning Lunches.

GrafCampus Improvements

Your gifts also supported capital improvements on campus including renovations, sustainability improvements and new construction projects. Here is a look at a few of the capital projects you helped support this past year:

  • In Graf Hall, one of the physics labs has been converted to a biology lab with updated equipment to better meet the needs of our students
  • The second floor of Melrose has been remodeled and will be the new home for Academic Affairs in order to better serve our academic departments and faculty
  • On the Portland Campus, renovations have been made to the Wildcat Den, a place where our hard-working nursing students can come together to study or relax

Thank you
