The Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Program for the Fall  2013 semester includes two (2) $10,000 scholarships and four (4) $5,000 scholarships, to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students with a declared major of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life-science field. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled in an accredited college for university for the Fall 2013 semester. In addition to these qualifications, students must also be legal United States residents, meaning that students possessing appropriate Visa status in order to study in the United States are also eligible.

Students may apply for the scholarship through the Thermo Scientific Pierce Scholarship Website. Applications will be accepted until 11:59:59 p.m. CT on July 31, 2013. Eligibility

Applicants to the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program must:

• Be high school seniors, high school graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduate students.
• Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico for the entire 2013-14 academic year. Proprietary and online schools are not eligible.
• Plan to major in a course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business related programs of study. See the list of eligible majors.
• Demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries using these areas of study.
• Be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Excluded from consideration are employees and relatives of employees of Scholarship Management Services, Scholarship America and their affiliates and subcontractors, and GM Foundation Directors, Officers, and staff and their relatives. Although GM employees are not eligible, relatives of General Motors employees are eligible.

Award Criteria

Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors:

• Academic achievement
• Financial need
• Participation and leadership in community and school activities, work experience and interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industry
• Please note special consideration will be given to the following applicants: first-generation college, female, minority, military veteran or a dependent of military personnel.

The majority of the scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in Engineering/Techology Fields.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. All scholarship recipients may be subject to a criminal background check. Recipients of a Buick Achievers Scholarship shall not commit any act that indicates dishonesty or moral turpitude or that otherwise could materially injure the General Motors Foundation, Buick or General Motors Company's reputation. If such an act is committed by a Buick Achievers Scholarship Program recipient, the Buick Achievers Scholarship award shall immediately be revoked. About the scholarship program: Foreclosure.com has issued $27,000 in scholarship money to 15 college students nationwide since the program was introduced in 2009. Each year, the company challenges future leaders of America to provide creative solutions/ideas to many of the nation's most critical issues, real estate/housing in particular, which can be used to help turnaround the market. With the presidential election looming in 2012, the hot-button housing/foreclosure issue will be the subject of great debate. Foreclosure.com is breaking new ground by offering a scholarship program. Currently enrolled college students (graduate students, law students and/or high school seniors are NOT eligible) are invited to apply by submitting an essay. Freshman entering Fall 2012 are eligible once they have received a student ID number.

Rocky Mountain Mattress Company proudly contributes to The Mark Forester Foundation scholarship fund and is now holding an essay contest; the contest winner will receive a $1000 scholarship in the name of The Mark Forester Foundation.

Mark A. Forester:

Senior Airman, Mark A. Forester was killed September 29th, 2010 in Afghanistan while risking his life to save a fallen comrade.

Mark died serving his country, family and friends. He had courage and honor and gave selfless sacrifice. He embodied everything a hero is. This is why Rocky Mountain Mattress would like to give a scholarship to students in his honor.

How to Enter:

Any student who is currently enrolled in school, or will be enrolled during 2013 can apply for the Mark A. Forester scholarship.

To enter, the student must write a 300-500-word essay explaining how they go about honoring America's military heroes.

2. Post your article on your blog or website. (Facebook and other social sites don't count.)

The CNF Exchange Business Finance Scholarship recognizes undergraduate students from all educational backgrounds who would like to draw upon business and finance knowledge or research to explain what information is important to analyze and receive from small businesses in order for a commercial bank lender to grant a business loan. For the 2012-13 academic year, two students will be recognized with an award of $500 each.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be high school seniors or graduates or be current undergraduate students
• Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university for the entire 2012–13 academic year (excluding proprietary and online schools)
• Be U.S. citizens or maintain legal residency within the United States
• Excluded from consideration are employees and relatives of employees of CNF Exchange.

Award Criteria

Scholarship recipients are selected based on the following factors:

• Academic achievement and financial need
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• The essay component of the application
• Students from all disciplines and fields of study are invited to apply
• Application deadline is November 30th for the 2012-13 academic year.

Award Amounts

For the 2012-13 academic year, the CNF Exchange Business Finance Scholarship will award two scholarships of $500 each.

Disbursements of the award will be made in one increment of $500, for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

The actual award amount will not exceed the total cost of the student’s tuition, fees, books, supplies, room and board and other allowable expenses, less other gift aid known at the time of application. The scholarship award is contingent upon full-time enrollment.

Recipients will be announced on the CNF Exchange Facebook page on December 31, 2012.

The application consists of an information summary, a statement of financial need and a 750 word essay.

To be eligible for the Gilbraitti Scholarship a student must:

1) Be between the ages of 16-20

2) Must be attending a College or University in the Fall  of 2013

3) Must complete the application form, including the essay prior to the deadline of March 30th, 2013.

To be eligible for the Youth Volunteer Scholarship Award:

1.  Over the past 2 years a student must have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer work.

2.  Over the past two years a student must have maintained a GPA of 3.5 or greater.

3.  A student must be under the age of 21 years of age on the day of the deadline.

4.  A student must submit an essay on this year's topic:  Explain in less than 1000 words why you have chosen to vonlunteer your time with the organization(s) that you have, and how your experience has changed your life

To be eligible for the Scholalrship by Design Award a student must:

1)  Be currently attending school as a high school senior or as an undergraduate student.

2)  Be a resident of either Canada or the United States

How and What to Submit:

A student must come up with a unique Scholarship Program idea that is aimed at high school and/or college students.  The three most important aspects of the "Scholarship Program" that you come up with are:

1) That it is Unique- Don't simply find another scholarship that you have heard of and copy it.

2) That it is Appealing- The more interested a student would be in applying to your "Scholarhsip Program" the better.

3)  That it is Designed for a specific TYPE of Company- It is important to try and match up your "Scholarship Program" idea to a particular TYPE of business.  For example, we recently launched a scholarship program of r a company called Black and Lee.  Black and Lee rents tuxedo's for graduation.  Thus, the scholarhip essay the student is asked to write relates to the event (ie. graduation)
 

Note that the scholarship program idea you come up with does not have to ask the student to write an essay.  You could ask them to make a video or build something or anything else you desire.  Try and be creative.

To be eligible for the Black and Lee Scholarship a student must:

1) Be between the ages of 15 and 20 on May 15th, 2013.

2) Submit answers to the essay question prior to the deadline.

3) Be attending a post-secondary institution by the Fall of 2013.

4) Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

5) Fully complete the application posted on the website.

Essay Topic:

Write a valedictorian essay/speech that is no longer than 1000 words. The essay/speech should fulfill two goals: it should convey a "sending off" message to the memebers of a graduating class; it should also inspire graduating students to leave the comfort and security of their school with a full heart, ready to embark on a new adventure.

To be considered eligible for the Caretenders Scholarship Program you must:

1) Be attending an accredited university, college, trades, or technical school in the fall of 2013.

2) In the fall of 2013, you must be attending a school in Canada or the United States.

Student must submit the scholarship application along with a written essay.

Essay Question:

As a student who has still yet to choose a career path, it may seem a little absurd to even consider thinking about  what your retirement will look like.  However, decisions you make over the course of the next few years can have a drastic impact on how your retirement years are spent.  In 1000 words or less, write an essay that answers the following questions:

1) What age do you plan to retire?

2) How much money do you think you will need to have saved prior to retiring?

3) What are some of the key decisions you will make in your life to ensure you can retire at the age you want?

4) What are some of the biggest mistakes people make that hinder their ability to live comfortably in retirement?

To be considered eligible for the LM Scholarship Program you must:

1) Be currently enrolled or expects to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September.

2) Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

3) Student must submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline.

Essay Topic:

Write an essay about a situation you have been involved in or someone you know has been involved in where better safety procedures would have prevented injury.  Explain in detail what safety procedures you believe should have been in place to prevent the injury and how they would have prevented the injury.

To be considered eligible for the Rogers Community Volunteer Scholarship you must:

1) You must be attending school on a full time basis durring the fall of 2013.

2) Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at any level.

3) Student must have contributed a minumum of 10 hours of non-paid, volunteer service within your community  durring the last 12 months.

4) Student must have maintained a GPA of 2.5 or greater.

Submit application and answer the following question:

Why did you choose this organization to volunteer at? and What impact did your effort within the organization make?

To be eligible for the Sedary & Associates scholarship a student must:

1) Be between the ages of 16-22 on the day your application is due.

2) Be enrolled in a college, university, trades, or technical school by no longer than the Fall of 2013.

3) Submit an essay answering the question on the sponsors website.

4) Be a resident of the United States or Canada (Citizenship not required).

5) Have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.

Essay Question:

There are many things a student must consider when choosing a college or university to attend.  In less than 1500 words, identity the 5 most important things that you believe every student should consider when making his/her choice.  Please ensure to explain why you believe each is important.
 

To be eligible for the LPE Scholarship you must either:

A) A current senior in high school or
B) A freshman or sophmore in college/university

C) Be a legal resident of the United States or Canada

Essay Topic:

Going to college is a big financial commitment.  Write an essay that outlines how much you expect to spend to finish your schooling, how you intend to pay for you schooling, and what you expect your job to be once you are finished with your schooling.  There is no word limit for the essay.

At Tenshon® we have the interesting and challenging task of merging form and function, creativity with practicality … and we employ valued individuals who glorify these tasks on a daily basis. Whether we are working on large commercial projects, such as stadiums and corporate offices, or taking on more intimate residential spaces, our designers must learn to adapt quickly, perform creatively and think practically.

With that, we are extending that same challenge to students everywhere, who are interested in the fields of architecture, design and/or engineering to create a unique shade sail structure using our standard sized shade sails. The purpose of this scholarship design contest is to ultimately expand your mind to the possibilities found in the tensile fabric industry and reward the stand-out students who best display an aptitude for shade sail design.

How Do We Select a Winner?

Based on the following criteria, a winner will be chosen by the current design team, engineering department and management at Tenshon®:

1) Creativity – Above all, we want a designer that thinks outside the box. Be creative!

2) Build-Ability – The designed shade sail system must be build-able. Feel free to use our website as a reference and/or seek other information about limitations of shade sails. NOTE: We do not expect perfection here, but an obvious attempt must be made to design a shade sail system into a setting that can feasibly exist.

3) Practicality – Shade sails gained their name because they provide shade. While art has its place, we must merge art and function to satisfy the number one need of our clients, shade. All designs must therefore provide shade in the obvious places of your chosen setting.
