In order to qualify for any financial aid, you must first be admitted to the college.
Academic Scholarships
Fill out the Linfield College Application for Admission. The FAFSA is not required for academic scholarship consideration.
Need-Based Financial Aid
Submit the Linfield College Application for Admission. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1, 2010. You should complete the FAFSA electronically. The web address to file the form electronically is http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. The FAFSA form can be signed electronically with a PIN number. Early Action is the application option that allows students to resolve their college choice early in the senior year. The Early Action deadline at Linfield is November 15 (postmark). Choosing this option is not a commitment to enroll at Linfield College.
Students who are considering Linfield's Early Action Program have the option of completing the FAFSA4caster form if they want an early estimate of need-based financial aid. The FAFSA4caster is available on-line at http://www.fafsa4caster.ed.gov/F4CApp/index/index.jsf. Please complete the form and mail or fax to the Office of Financial Aid by December 15, 2009.
What happens after you apply for financial aid?
After you have you have been admitted to the college and filed the FAFSA, Linfield will evaluate your application and determine eligibility for scholarships, grants, work and loans. An award letter and accompanying materials will be mailed to you. The award mailings will begin on the following dates:
Early Action (Fall 2010) — January 15, 2010
Regular Decision (Fall 2009) — April 1, 2010
You will need to meet the preferred filing timelines and have complete files in order to receive an award on this schedule. The award letter and listing of the types of aid offered, is commonly referred to as a "financial aid package." The package can contain one type or many different types and amounts of aid. Included in the accompanying materials will be information about each type of aid. Forms and instructions will help you calculate your portion of the costs.
