Need Based Grants
Linfield offers grants (gift aid that does not need to be repaid) to students with financial need. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) is required for consideration of all types of need-based aid, including Linfield College funding, federal funding and State of Oregon funding to state residents. The priority date for filing the FAFSA is February 1st. Award amounts are dependent on financial need, specific requirements for the award, and availability of funding. Some need-based grant awards are not determined by Linfield, such as the Federal Pell Grant and the Oregon Opportunity Grant.
Federal Sources
Federal TEACH Grant Federal TEACH Grant: this grant is available to Linfield education and pre-education majors. The grant amount is up to $4,000 annually and is not based on financial need. Students who receive a federal TEACH Grant must complete a service obligation by serving as a highly-qualified teacher in a designated high-need field at a low-income school for four years within eight years of completing a TEACH Grant eligible program. Failure to complete teaching service will result in the TEACH Grant being converted to an unsubsidized Stafford loan with retroactive interest.
