Reminders about the 2011 Fall Semester

TJ Day Hall is finished and ready for the fall...

Take the time to walk through the newly renovated TJ Day Hall!  What an amazing addition to the college facilities.

Housing

Moving In

Classes for Fall Semester start on Monday, August 29.  Residence halls and suburbs for continuing students will be open Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28.  Keys are available from 10 am-4 pm from the Residence Life Office in Mahaffey Hall, Room 127.  HP Park residents must also go to the Residence Life Office and check in to housing (your card access will be deactivated if you do not check in).  You need to have your account cleared in order to pick up your room keys or have your swipe card access activated, so please make sure you complete the account clearing process.  Go to the Residence Life Website for complete information.

Go to the Cashier Window In Melrose Hall first to get your valid Fall 2011 sticker before attempting to check into college housing.

Student ID Card

You need to have your student ID card in order to access your residence hall or apartment.  If you do not have your ID card when you arrive, you will need to have a new ID card produced.  On Saturday, August 27, the ID photo station will be open from 10 am - 4 pm.  On Sunday the ID photo station will be open from 10 am - 4 pm.  You will need to have valid, government-issued photo identification (driver's license, passport, military ID, etc.) in order to be issued a Linfield ID.  The ID station will be in Cozine Hall.

Early Arrivals

The college hosts a number of visitors during the summer for conferences and special programs.  In order to complete campus maintenance projects and prepare the facilities for the start of the year, we ask that you respect the arrival time as posted in the contract you signed when selecting your room.  For information about early arrival for fall sports or other purposes please go to the Residence Life Website.

Clearing Your Account

The Linfield College Student Accounts Office has an account clearing procedure for you to pay the billed charges for each semester.  The procedure includes specific date requirements and for the Fall Semester the clearing date is August 12th.  The Student Accounts Office has mailed the paperwork necessary to complete the account clearing process.

To start the process, go to Webadvisor and click on the "Clear Your Account" link and follow the steps indicated to complete the process.  Please be sure to accept the terms and conditions of the Linfield College Educational Services Agreement.  Also, don't forget to waive your insurance online if you have other medical insurance coverage.

Graduating Seniors

If you plan to graduate in the 2011-2012 academic year, you should have already submitted your Intent to Graduate form to the Registrar's Office.  If you did, your status review will be in your unit box soon after you return to campus in the fall.  If you did not submit the form but plan to graduate, it is a high priority that you complete the form when you return to campus.

Spring 2012 Commencement will take place Sunday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. on the Commencement Green.  Baccalaureate will be Saturday, May 26 at 5 p.m. in Wilson Gym.  The Grad Finale reception will be immediately following the Baccalaureate in Nicholson Library.  Complete information about Spring Commencement will be available during the year.

Registrar's Office Information

On Monday, August 29, fall classes begin. If there is space in a class and you have the prerequisites, you can change your registration over WebAdvisor until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30.  Registration changes (adds and drops) requiring instructor signatures will be processed in Melrose 010 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. starting on Monday, August 29.  Starting on Wednesday, August 31,  all registration changes will be made by the Registrar’s Office at the time and location above.  Students must bring their ID cards with the 2011 FA sticker and add/drop forms with signatures from their advisor and the instructor(s) of the class(es) involved.
