TEACHING LINGUISTICALLY & CULTURALLY DIVERSE STUDENTS

Course Number: EDUC-360
Description: An overview of linguistically and culturally appropriate teaching strategies for teaching English Language Learners (ELL) in the mainstream classroom. A review of current second language learning theory and an application of these theories to planning effective instruction for limited English proficiency students. An examination of second language development and cultural issues that affect ELL's academic performance in the mainstream classroom. Prerequisites: 150, 230, or consent of instructor. Offered spring. 3 credits (US)
