Transfer Credits - Credits from Previous Colleges
Transferring credits from accredited colleges and universities nationwide is easy at Linfield College.
Full transfer credit is generally acknowledged for work completed at a regionally accredited four-year college or university. Courses must be comparable to courses listed in the Linfield College catalog.
For credits earned at regionally accredited community colleges, you can transfer up to 72 semester credits, or 108 quarter credits, to Linfield. In both cases – two year or four year schools - you must have completed courses with grades of “C” and above or 2.00 and above on a 1.00 to 4.00 point scale in order to transfer credits.
Accreditation by a regional accrediting agency qualifies colleges and universities and enrolled students for access to federal funds to support teaching, research, and student financial aid.
If you have questions about the accreditation of your previous schools, check with the regional accrediting agency. There are six regional accrediting associations that have been evaluated and approved by the U.S. Department of Education:
Middle States Commission on Higher Education (Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands)
New England Association of Schools and Colleges (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont)
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming)
Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon Utah, Washington)
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia)
Western Association of Schools and Colleges (California, Hawaii)
Transfer credit is granted for study completed in other countries provided that the work was done for credit at a recognized college or university in another country. You will need to request a course by course evaluation from an approved transcript evaluation service to be sent to the Linfield Adult Degree Program Registrar’s office.
