Assessment Methods

1. Company Papers:
Students will submit their company papers in accordance with the deadlines stated in the document Marketing Summer 2005 Deadlines. These papers will consist of the development of their companies including the required chapter theory. It is important that students support their decisions using concepts from the text. However I do not wish to re-read Armstrong and Kotler in your papers. Within these papers only the chapters indicated should be included, it is not necessary to include information from the previous chapters unless it directly relates to the development of the current paper.
These papers will vary in length depending on the company being developed as well as the chapters being covered. A good piece of advice is not to quit writing if you have more to say. You are free to choose the format that you wish to create these papers around. Develop a format that you are comfortable with. All sources should be cited using a citation method of your choice. Sources other than Kotler and Armstrong will be rewarded. I will give you feedback on your first assignment if I believe that you should modify your style.
Submission of Papers: All individual company papers should be submitted to the relevant discussion board.  All assignments are due on the discussion boardby midnight on the date indicated in the document entitled ‘Marketing Summer 2005 Deadlines’. I will then review your work, give you feedback including a grade and send it back to you.
2. Cases:
In groups, students will prepare and present a case during the term. The case presentation will include answers to the case questions and information on how and why the case relates to the chapter. In addition, these same groups will critically evaluate another case presented by another group. This critical evaluation should address the depth and completeness of the presented case, as well as suggestions that the group has as to issues that were not presented and should have been. All sources should be cited using a citation method of your choice. I particularly like sources additional to the text.
Submission of cases. These cases will be presented to deadline by midnight on the relevant discussion board.. The group then analyzing the case will then post their critical evaluation of the case on the same discussion board in accordance with the deadlines stated in the document entitled ‘Marketing Summer 2005 Deadlines’
3. Discussion Board:
All company papers should be submitted to the relevant discussion board for comments by other class members. It is important that you post your company papers on the relevant week’s discussion board. Also, throughout the term each class member will be expected to post a total of twenty critical responses to other student’s postings on the discussion board. A response might be that you commend the originator’s posting with an explanation why. On the other hand, you may have some constructive feedback about the originator’s business and will then give justification for this in your response. One or two paragraphs are sufficient as a response. Presentation is important so make sure to have your work proofread.
All late work carries a 20% penalty per week.
4. Weekly Quizzes
There will be a weekly quiz over the chapters assigned each week. There are no late submissions. My advice is to take the quiz earlier in the week rather than later when family or computer issues might arise.

Plagiarism
