Who is Linfield College?

What is the Division of Continuing Education?
Since 1975, Linfield College's Division of Continuing Education (DCE) has given working adults the opportunity to earn a college degree. Established in 1858, Linfield College is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning west of the Mississippi River. Linfield College is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges to offer Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees.

Are all degrees available at all sites?
Yes, however, some coursework may require travel to other sites.
Where can I take classes?
Online classes are accessible no matter where you live. Traditional classes may be held on Linfield College's campus in McMinnville, Oregon, and in Bend, Eugene, McMinnville, Portland, and Salem.

What are the costs for per academic year?
Do I need to have a computer to be a student?
We highly recommend that students have access to a computer with internet access.
Who can take classes?
Non-degree seeking students may register for a class on a space-available basis if there are no prerequisites.
Degree candidates may register after meeting with an advisor to set up an academic plan. Although you may register for classes before being officially admitted, you may need to provide official transcripts to document completion of prerequisites.
How do I apply to the program?
Contact the Linfield advisor in your area to set up an appointment to create an academic plan and to fill out an application. Print and mail a pdf application here.
How do I register for classes?
Registration can be sent online or mailed, faxed or phoned into the DCE office in McMinnville.
Do courses have prerequisites?
Yes, many do. If a course has a prerequisite it will be listed in the course description in the Student Handbook.
When can I register for classes?
Students may register online or by mail or fax upon receipt of the current Class Schedule. See the Class Schedule for late fees. Courses may be added up to the first day of the class. See registration and payment policies.

How may I pay for tuition?
Linfield accepts payment via check, money order, or credit/debit card (VISA and MasterCard). A deferred tuition payment option is available in fall, spring and summer.

Can I earn credit for life experience?
Yes! Linfield College is one of more than 1500 universities and colleges across the nation that offers credit for prior learning.

As Linfield students, your local libraries and the community college libraries are available for you to use. You will be issued a student ID card for library access. The Linfield library is available to help you in your research and interlibrary loan needs. When do I get my grades?
Grades are mailed to students upon request only. Please access the college's on-line system (WebAdvisor) to retrieve your grades.
I've moved. Whom should I notify?
You should always notify the DCE office any time your personal information changes. Please indicate any changes at the time of registration as well.
