For healthcare professionals who would like to improve their Spanish language proficiency by engaging with authentic content through interpersonal, interpretive and presentational communication activities with a medical theme. This class is for intermediate level Spanish-speakers who would like to increase their proficiency in order to work with patients directly or train to be an interpreter. Emphasis will be placed on the development of listening and oral communication skills within a medical context.
This non-credit program is not eligible for Title IV funding.

Heidi Astrid Schmaltz, MA has worked for over ten years in the field of medical interpreting as well as teaching postsecondary language courses. Ms. Schmaltz has passed NBCMI, DSHS and NCSC exams for Spanish, and provides medical, court, social service and educational interpreting services both in-person and remotely.
