Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to simplify the process?
Make sure the Linfield Application is filed early. You must be admitted to the program before you will receive your Offer of Financial Aid . It is a good idea to check with the DCE office to make sure that all transcripts you have requested have been received. Report any funding received from any outside agencies including: employers, JTPA, DVR Benefits, Trade Adjustment Act, Scholarships, etc.

I am thinking of transferring to Linfield College. Will the financial aid I have been awarded at my current college transfer to Linfield?

No, financial aid does not transfer from one college to another. You need to apply for and receive financial aid from Linfield. Types and amounts of aid at Linfield may vary from what you are currently receiving.

Is financial aid available for winter term?
No. Linfield College does not award financial aid for the winter term. We award financial aid for three semesters only; summer, fall, and spring. Students usually have enough financial aid left over from fall to assist with their winter classes.

How are quarter credits converted to Linfield's semester credits?

Quarter credits = 2/3 of semester credits
Example: 6 quarter credits x 2/3 = 4 semester credits

I know I must maintain at least 6 credits per semester to keep my Stafford loan monies. Can I combine my 3 credit hours in winter with my 3 credit hours in spring to equal 6?
No.

If I drop below 6 credits will I lose all of my financial aid?
Dropping below 6 credits would mean losing your Stafford loans. Any Pell award will be adjusted to less than 1/2 time status.
