Steps to Successfully Complete Your Financial Aid


All financial aid documents referred to below may be scanned and emailed to finaid@linfield.edu,
Faxed to 503-883-2486,

The Office of Financial Aid strives to provide the best service to each student, but we cannot offer you ANY Financial Aid until the four items below have been successfully completed.


NEW!!!!! Once you have completed these steps you will begin receiving communication from our office via your Linfield email account.

If you have been selected for verification this means the Federal Government is requesting that we review the following items:

  • Verification Worksheet
    • Did you include ALL members of your household
    • Signed and Dated
  • 2008 Federal Tax Return (1040, 1040A or 1040EZ)
    • Signed and Dated by you or the preparer
  • 2008 W2’s (If you have them)
  • Schedule E of your 1040 Tax Return:
    • You know you have this because on line 17 you would have a dollar amount (even a negative amount requires a Schedule E). If there is no amount on line 17 then you do not have to provide this document
  • Property Tax Statement
    • On any rental properties you may own
  • Mortgage Statement
    • On any rental properties you may own (If there is no mortgage on rental please indicate so on property tax statement)

    If you have not been selected for verification, you will receive communication from our office via U.S. mail on your Financial Aid Award Letter, and then all other correspondence will be via your Linfield email account.

    Once you receive your Financial Aid Award Letter please complete the following steps:

    • Accept or Reject ALL or a portion of the financial aid that is being offered to you
    • If you are accepting ANY loans you need to select YES on the back of the award letter for Title IV Funds
    • Sign, date, and return to the Office of Financial Aid

    If you are accepting ANY loans you MUST complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). If you have never received a Federal Stafford loan before you MUST complete Entrance Counseling online .

    Your Loans WILL NOT be posted to your student account unless the following steps are completed.
