Grads, Golden Grads march in Oak Grove

Nearly 600 Linfield graduates turned their tassels at commencement May 27 in the Oak Grove. Golden Grads, individuals who graduated 50 or more years ago, also marched in the commencement ceremony, and several accompanied grandchildren. U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden received an honorary degree and told graduates to remain open to unexpected opportunities. He compared one of the area's most iconic landmarks, Erratic Rock, to the journey new graduates are starting. Read more in the News-Register story. See photos from the day and watch a video of the speakers.

Both stores will continue to sell clothing, supplies, gifts and sundries, with a new look and a new design. View the website.

Swing away at the Wildcat Open

Dust off those clubs and get ready for a fun day of golf at the Wildcat Open Friday, Aug. 3, at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville. 2011-12, a very good year

From musical events and speakers, to theatre productions and homecoming, the Linfield campus hummed with activity this year. As the academic year comes to a close, take a look at a sampling of events that made up the 2011-12 year at Linfield. Let's do it again next year, shall we?

Read along with Linfield

What's on your summertime reading list? If you're a Linfield College first-year student, it might be The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. The summer Common Reading selection focuses on Lacks, a tobacco farmer whose cells, taken without her knowledge in 1951, became vital for developing the polio vaccine, cloning and more. The book will be the focus of campus-wide conversation from a variety of perspectives as we introduce new students to academic life at Linfield.

Imagine your impact

Thank you to the 2,175 alumni who have made gifts to Linfield this year. By giving back to the scholarships or programs that supported you as a student, you are helping sustain the college you love while keeping it affordable for the next generation of Wildcats. Gifts to the Linfield Fund provide student scholarships, enhance faculty development and fund improvements to campus. If you haven't made your 2011-12 gift, it's not too late to make an impact. Help us reach our year-end goals of 2,500 alumni donors by making your annual gift online by June 30. Thank you for your continued support.
