New York Times, Oprah praise Little Century

Little Century, the debut novel by Anna Keesey, assistant professor of English, landed on Oprah's Top 16 Best Books for June and has been lauded in The New York Times. The book was also selected for The Christian Science Monitor and Vogue Magazine summer reading lists. Although the story is set in the early 1900s, its land and water conflicts still resonate. The coming-of-age story follows a young orphan from Chicago who rides the rails west in search of her last living relative. Keesey is a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and a graduate of the Iowa Writer's Workshop. Watch Keesey talk about her book and read more at linfield.edu.

The changing trend in nursing

The accelerated nursing program at the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing welcomed 56 students this summer. The accelerated program allows those with previous degrees to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in only 15 months. With help from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, more underrepresented students are able to attend this program, including men and minority students. This year's accelerated class is over 42 percent male, the highest in the program's history. Read more about the nursing program at linfield.edu.

Linfield alumni gather in many locations to celebrate

On June 24, alumni gathered in five cities to welcome the newest graduates to the alumni ranks. Aaron Godfred '02 served as a host, crediting Linfield with shaping who he is today. "It gives me great pleasure to host the Los Angeles alumni gathering and have the opportunity to bring Linfield graduates, both recent and as far back as the '50s, together to share stories," he said. Read the whole quote and see pictures from some of the parties on the alumni website.

Share sage advice for our newest Wildcats

In a few short weeks, the Class of 2016 will arrive on campus. For many, it is a time filled with excitement and angst as they get to know their new environment. What lessons did you learn the hard way during your first months at Linfield? The Student Alumni Association would like to share your tips with our newest Wildcats to help them get settled and hopefully avoid some of the typical first-year blunders. Take a minute and email your advice for our newest students at alumni@linfield.edu.

Linfield thanks you

Thank you to the 6,000 alumni, parents, friends and Linfield employees who made gifts to the college last fiscal year, which ended June 30. These gifts provide critical scholarships for our students and immense impact throughout the campus. Annual gifts provide all of our students access to a strong liberal arts education and a memorable experience. We are deeply grateful for your continued support!

Got news? Let Linfield spread the word

Linfield alumni are movers and shakers, but don't keep your news to yourself. Share it with your Linfield friends. Have you changed jobs? Received a promotion? Returned to school? Received another degree? Started a business? Did you get married or have a child in the last year? If you have news for your classmates and other Linfield friends, tell us about it.
