David Massey
A native of Salem, Oregon, David Massey graduated from Linfield College in 1978. In 1982 he completed his Masters of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York. Shortly thereafter he became the protestant chaplain at the University of Rochester. After a period of time as a senior pastor in two American Baptist Churches, David returned to his first love – college chaplaincy – by returning to Linfield. Prior to his appointment as Linfield’s chaplain he completed doctoral studies at San Francisco Theological Seminary with an emphasis in pastoral counseling, specializing in trauma and loss. David’s return to Linfield includes an appointment to the Religious Studies Department, where he teaches regularly.
While a student at Linfield, David was a double major in business and religion. He was one of the first members of the Chaplain’s Team under then chaplain Dr. Bill Apel. In addition, David was active in choir and musical theater. Some of his previous professors are still teaching at Linfield.
