SMART Reading Volunteer

Organizaion: SMART (Start Making A Reader Today)
Profile: SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) is an Oregon book and reading program that brings together thousands of Oregonians to help kindergarten through third grade children read and succeed. SMART operates in over 200 schools throughout the state of Oregon
Description: Volunteers read one hour a week with two elementary students for the school year, from mid October through mid May. Students also receive up to two books each month to take home and build a library. Volunteers are given an opportunity to share their love of reading with children and to help children become more successful through increased literacy and self esteem.
