Spring 1999 - Learned to book, sell and organize catered events,
plan menus, monitor cost controls. Trained summer employees to
work in concession stands, developed work schedules and completed
weekly inventory control checks.
Newport Chamber of Commerce, Intern
Summer 1998 - Participated in a research project that tracked
the number of motor coaches coming to the Newport area and designed
a filing system and database in which to record the information.
Learned the importance of his tracking system and how it relates
to marketing and budgeting. Wrote stories about Newport's attractions,
recreational activities and special events and decided which photos
to include with different stories. Participated in budget meetings.
Portland Inn, Hostess
Summer 1997 - Opened restaurant every morning, greeted and seated
customers, took orders for room service, served as cashier handling
cash and credit cards, occasionally waited tables, and balanced
till at the end of every shift.
Linfield College Bookstore, Assistant
1995 - 1998 - Assisted with purchase displays, contests, special
holiday publicity, book 'buy backs' and customer service.
