Finding an Internship

Finding an internship is very much like finding a job.  Determine what type of experience you seek, explore to find where such experience exists, network to meet people and learn more about the organization, apply and interview for the internship.  There are many online resources to assist in your internship search.

 Oregon Liberal Arts Placement Consortium - OLAPC is a collaboration of nine Oregon liberal arts colleges for the purpose of enhancing career services opportunities for their students. Information about the annual First Avenue career and internship fair and available positions in participating organizations listed.

 

Common Cause - This nonpartisan, nonprofit organization offers annual internships that emphasize accountability in government and politics.

DC Internships - This organization provides real-world opportunities and courses for individuals looking to work in Washington D.C. and many of the internships work with government agencies.

InternshipPrograms.com - Internships searchable by region and company, with nationwide opportunities.

 

Rising Star - This site allows students and graduates to search for both internships and entry-level positions by field of interest.

 

State of Oregon - Changes frequently with updated information and new positions in the Oregon Department of Education and other state agencies.

 

Student Conservation Association - Partial list of volunteer/internship positions in natural/cultural resource management nationwide offered through SCA.

 

 University of Oregon Career Center - Several hundred opportunities available for browsing, including both jobs and internships.

 

US News and World Report - Find an internship abroad, plus other internship information and opportunities.

 

Africa Action - Semester and summer internships available supporting this nonprofit's activism and support for welfare in Africa.
