Associated Students of Linfield College

The Linfield Activities Board is a body created by the Associated Students of Linfield College to coordinate a variety of social, cultural, educational, and outdoor activities. LAB is made up of six chairs, each held by a Linfield student: Special Events-Ellen Massey, Sports-Lauren Pyrch, Outdoor- Dylan McWharter, Musical Entertainment- Slyvan Tovar, Cultural Events- Chastliynn Tittle, and Secretary-Sarai Utley. The board is overseen by the Vice President of Programming, who is an executive cabinet member appointed by the ASLC President. The VPP for 2013-2014 is Allison Halley.

LAB's annual budget comes from ASLC student body fees. With this money, LAB plans activities at little or no additional cost to Linfield students. Examples of programming include weekly concerts, comedy entertainment, white water rafting, the Wildstock festival and free movies.

Meet the 2013-2014 Linfield Activities Board:

Allison Halley: V.P. of Programming
Allison Halley is a Political Science Major and is a part of the theater and dance programs here at Linfield. As a Vice President of Programming for Linfield Activities Board, she will be responsible for contracting artists for LAB events and will oversee the planning and execution of these events. In addition, she will manage a budget and act as a liaison between LAB and ASLC cabinet.

Sylvan Tovar: Musical Chair
My name is Sylvan Tovar.  I’m a Philosophy Major, class of 2014, and I’m the new Musical Entertainment Chair for LAB.  I’ve played at a number of cat cabs myself, have organized concerts outside of Linfield, and am really excited to put together a great run of performers this upcoming year.

Dylan McWharter: Outdoors Chair
My name is Dylan McWharter. I am a Psychology major with a Physics minor from Centennial Colorado. I love music, baseball, and the great outdoors. I am an avid fisherman, camper, hiker, biker, climber... anything that will get me out into the wilderness. I am very excited to plan all of the outdoor events to be had and I love the freedom of pursuing any activity that pops into my head. I expect some awesome adventures next year and hope to make good friends with all of the people that share my passion for the outdoors!

Kacie Copeland: Secretary
My name is Kacie Copeland and I am the new secretary for Linfield Activities Board. I am a business management major and I am from McMinnville, Oregon. I have always wanted to become involved on campus and I am excited to start by junior year here at Linfield by helping with events around campus! I believe that this year is going to be a great year full of activities and meeting new people!

Lauren Pyrch: Sports Chair
My name is Lauren Pyrch and I am a junior with a Management major and a Sport Management minor.  I am a team captain on the Linfield Women's Varsity Soccer team and a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.  I am the LAB Sports Chair where I will be planning events to go to professional games in Portland and Seattle, like Blazer games.  I am hoping to promote more Linfield Home Games with emphasizing the Linfield school spirit! I want to promote the games more around the Linfield campus so that students are aware of all the LAB Sport events.  I wanted to be apart of LAB because I want to be more involved in the Linfield Community.  The Sports Chair is a perfect fit for me because of my love for sports and my future goal of becoming an event planner.  This chair is an excellent way to combine both of my interests! I am so excited to be the LAB Sports Chair!

Ellen Massey: Special Events
The Special Events Chair organizes a variety of activities. Some of these events include monthly movies and comedians. I am a sophomore perusing a degree in Mass Communication. I am looking forward to booking new and exciting acts to appeal to the students of Linfield.

 Chastilynn Tittle: Cultural Chair

I will be a junior in the 2013-2014 school year and plan on majoring in management. I enjoy learning about different cultures and feel that experiencing cultural events is a great way to learn about different cultures. For next years cultural events I plan on doing a lot of Taste of's (where students get to enjoy meals from various ethnic restaurants) and traveling into Porltand.

Sarai Utley: Campus Entertainment

Sarai Utley is a history major. As the Campus Entertainment Chair , she is responsible for creating student-led musical performances, along with other creative outlets for the different voices of Linfield to be heard.
