Scott '00 and Melanie (Zollars) McGrath '01

We met in the fall of 1997, Scott's sophomore year and Melanie's freshman year. We had a class together- 8AM Weight Training! Melanie was one of only 2 girls in the class, so Scott noticed her right away, but it took Melanie a little while longer to truly notice Scott. However, it was a party hosted at the Kappa Sigma Stadium House that finally brought us together. After spending 4 hours talking, dancing, and sharing skiing and soccer stories, we both knew that we had met a very special person. Two weeks later (December 2, 1997), we had our first 'date', watching Braveheart together. We have been together ever since, even while Scott was spending the fall of 1998 in Nottingham, England. It just provided a great excuse for Melanie to save up all her summer income to fly to France and spend 8 days traveling Europe with him!

Scott proposed at the old Atwater's Restaurant in downtown Portland on August 4th, 2000, and we were married in Pullman, WA on July 7, 2001. Many of our Linfield friends attended our wedding all the way out in Pullman, including bridesmaids Nikki (Wyss) Hydes '01, Monica Henry '01, and Tamara Quandt '01. Although our lives have led us to move out of the Northwest, we still cherish our time at Linfield and find time to root for the 'Cats, wherever we may live!
