We met in 1957 during our freshman year working at the breakfast serving line in the Linfield College Commons. Our friendship soon turned romantic, and we began to feel that if we got along so well at the early morning breakfast hour each day there might be a more permanent future for our relationship. Indeed this happened. We were married in Seattle after our sophomore year in June 1959. We returned to Linfield for our junior and senior years, living in the old white chemistry building above Cozine. Now after fifty three years of marriage, four sons and one daughter and twelve grandkids, we still are going around together in our retirement years (the photo shows us in the big ferris wheel on the Seattle waterfront in June 2012). Having lived in New York State, Connecticut, and for the past forty five years in Berkeley, California, we always have thought of Linfield as our first home together.
