Doug and Marion (Simmons) Perry, both '53

On Sept. 13, 1949 Doug Perry and Marion Simmons attended Freshman orientation in the Little Theater. While waiting for the program to start, Doug spotted a girl closer to the front who was looking around. After the program was over, Doug waiting at the door and asked Marion if she would like to go to the Snack Shack for a coke. Doug asked Marion for a date to a football game in Monmouth. That was the beginning of the courtship.

On June 21, 1952 Marion and Doug were married. Doug graduated in 1953 and went on the graduate school at Oregon State University.

Doug and Marion raised four children and now have five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

They were happily married for almost 54 years. Doug passed away in 2006. Marion lives in Yuma, Arizona.
