What are you doing now?
I recently graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. I am currently working as a dentist in Yakima, where I am originally from.

Tell us about yourself.
My wife Lindsey and I got married in the summer of 2010, and recently celebrated our third anniversary! Our son, Declan, was born two months premature and weighed only 3lbs 10oz! We were in the neonatal intensive care unit and Children's Hospital for 12 weeks. It seems like so long ago now, as our son (now seven months old) is so big and healthy (maybe too big judging from his chubby cheeks, as I think we need to get him on a Coach Carnahan workout program). I am currently working for Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, a community clinic that specializes in treating the under-served population within the Yakima Valley. It is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience, give back to the area in which I grew up, and also capitalize on loan repayment opportunities that the position offers. After my contract expires, I hope to go into business for myself, hopefully starting my own dental practice in Yakima, staying close to my family.

How did Linfield help prepare you for your career?
Going to a smaller school like Linfield really groomed me for dental school. I felt very comfortable with the small class sizes, being able to work and communicate well with my peers, and keep up with a rigorous academic schedule. Balancing class, science labs, baseball, work, and a social life during my four years at Linfield made for a smooth transition to life in dental school.
