Government Banking Portfolio Manager
What are you doing now?
Currently, I am a Government Banking Portfolio Manager with U.S. Bank.
This role is unique within the organization as it brings together Capital Markets and traditional banking solutions for various governmental entities and non-profits. On a daily basis, I manage a portfolio of existing municipal relationships in addition to developing and securing new customers in the public sector market on the West Coast. My main responsibility is to identify and mitigate risks in existing and proposed debt products.
Tell us about yourself.
I am an Oregon native and live in the Portland area. Outside of work, I try to take advantage of everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer! I am currently in the process of completing my degree in Accounting, with aspirations of sitting for the CPA exam.
How did Linfield help prepare you for your career?
Attending a liberal arts school gave me the opportunity to take courses outside my major. While I have always been drawn to the finance field, I minored in psychology. Having coursework in psychology gave me some insight to understanding human behavior that comes in very handy in the workplace! Linfield allows you to form strong relationships with the faculty and professors. They truly want you to succeed and will go above and beyond to help you accomplish your goals.
I had the opportunity to participate in a Jan Term class that met with different individuals in the finance field and to learn more about their careers. During the course, I met a Linfield graduate who worked in Commercial Banking, and after learning more about her role, I knew that I was interested in pursuing a career in banking. Once the Jan term class was completed, I kept in touch with the alumna and she helped me get my first job right out of college. The connections and networking opportunities at Linfield are invaluable.
