Step 6 - Make course reservations using WebAdvisor

Prior to making course reservations, be sure that you know your course reservation times for both Phase I and Phase II, have your CatNet ID and password ready, and have updated your personal contact information.  Need help with any of these things?

Instructions for submitting course reservations on WebAdvisor

NOTE: WebAdvisor instructions use the term "register" rather than "reservations." WebAdvisor is the system you will use to register for courses as an enrolled student. This summer you will be submitting reservations and registering for courses during Orientation weekend.

  1. Click on WebAdvisor
  2. Click the "Log In" tab at the top right of the screen
  3. Use your  CatNet ID (your Linfield email address minus the "@linfield.edu") and password to log in
  4. Click on the blue "Students" link from the four choices on the right of the screen

Searching for and Selecting Classes:

  1. Under "Registration" click on the "Register for Sections"
  2. Click on "Search and Register for Sections"
  3. Using the dropdown menu, select the semester for which you are making course reservations (e.g.: FALL 2009)
  4. Click on the dropdown "Subject" menu and choose the department offering one of the classes you wish to take (e.g.: Mathematics)
  5. Type in the three-digit course number of the particular class in the "Course Number" box to the right of the "Subject" box you filled out a moment ago (e.g.: 140)
  6. Type in the two-digit section number of the course you wish to take in the "Section" box (e.g.: 02)

This example is for MATH 140, Section 2, Introduction to Statistics

  1. Click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page
  2. Now you will see the Term, Status, Section Name and Title, Location, Meeting Time, Faculty Teaching, Availability/Number of Students, and Credits of the class. Note whether the class still has availability
  3. Click on the white box under "Select" on the left-hand side of the page and then click "Submit" on the bottom of the page if this is the class you want to reserve
  4. This class has been placed under your "Preferred Sections"

Repeat these steps to fill your "Preferred Sections" with all the classes you wish to take by clicking on the "Student's Menu" tab at the top right of the WebAdvisor page and then referring back to the beginning of these instructions, starting back at the top of the "Searching for and Selecting Classes to Register for" section

Reserving your Preferred Sections

Log into WebAdvisor at your assigned course reservation time.

1. Click on the "Students" menu
2. Under "Registration" click on the "Register for Sections" link
3. Click on "Register for Previously Selected Sections"
4. Under "Preferred Sections" you should see all the courses you previously selected
5. The "Action" column on the left contains a dropdown menus for each class. Choose "RG Register" for all
the classes you want to reserve
6. At the bottom of the page, make sure that the bottom dropdown menu states "PART Complete only available"
(This lets the computer reserve the classes that are available even if there are some in your choice list that
    are not). Click "Submit"
7. After a 30-60 seconds, a list of the classes you have successfully reserved appear with the title "Current
    Registrations"

 Remember:

  • You can reserve up to 8 credits in Phase 1 and an additional 4-7 in Phase 11
  • You will not be able to reserve a course that is closed

What's Next?

1. Go back to the "Student's Menu" page
2. Under "Registration" click on "My Class Schedule"
3. Select FALL 2009 from the drop-down menu
4. Your course reservations will appear. Review your course reservations carefully. You will not be able to
make changes to your reservations after the course reservation period in June has concluded
5. Print a copy of your Fall 2009 reservations
6. Click on the "Log Out" tab at the top center of the page
