Step 2 - Review advising resources and course schedules
Students are encouraged to use the below resources as they plan for their Fall semester courses and complete the course reservation process. These resources will help students consider appropriate course selection, college requirements, and recommended first term courses. This page will also help students locate Fall term course information online and explain how to utilize Linfield's online resources.
Linfield's Curriculum
Understanding Linfield's curriculum, general education requirements, and majors and minors is important as you begin to consider what classes to take in the fall. All students complete a set of general education requirements called the Linfield Curriculum (or LCs). The LCs are a coherent set of courses that provide you with a strong career foundation, civic engagement, and the flexibility required of today's global citizens. Many first-year students will enroll in 1-2 courses in their first term that will satisfy their LCs.
NOTE: Students must complete these requirements prior to graduation, NOT in their first year. Plan to start on these classes in your first year, but you have plenty of time to complete these requirements.
Area of Interest Grid
Quick, one-stop review of first-term courses suggested by all the academic departments at Linfield. Scroll down the left hand column and locate an academic discipline that interests you. Follow the column across to the right to locate suggested first semester courses.
Advising Information by Area of Interest
Detailed information about different majors and minors offered at Linfield College. Each page includes information about a specific area of interest, Fall Semester course descriptions, and things first-year students should consider when selecting courses.
The Linfield Catalog
The Linfield Catalog contains information regarding graduation requirements, the academic policies and procedures of the college, and details about academic departments. You will receive a printed copy of the catalog during Orientation weekend.
Recommendations (and contact information) contained in letters from your faculty and peer advisors
Fall 2009 course offerings
The Registrar's website provides an overview of all courses offered in the 2009 Fall Semester. Please note that not all of these courses will be appropriate for first semester students. Refer to the Advising Information by Area of Interest pages and the Area of Interest Grid for specific information about courses for first-year students.
