You will be welcomed to the Linfield community through the Fall Connections program. Fall Connections meetings will begin on August 23rd the first day of Transfer Transitions; clear your schedule to make sure you'll be able to attend. The Connections meetings will continue into the semester, helping you to get to know other new students and become more familiar with the academic and campus life at Linfield. Not only will you earn an earlier registration time for Spring 2014 classes by attending all Fall Connections meetings, you will also learn crucial information about your transfer process and becoming a Linfield student.
Every new transfer student will be included in the Fall Connections program which will be led by Charlotte Goddard, Transfer Coordinator, and Janet Peterson, Faculty Fellow for Academic Advising, and peer mentors who themselves transferred to Linfield. You will be contacted by your Fall Connections mentors via your Linfield email over the summer.
Keep in mind that the Fall Connections mentors are just that - mentors to guide you in your transition to Linfield and to introduce you to opportunities in the Linfield community. For questions related to your academic planning and course selection, contact your faculty advisor.
As an introduction to the complex questions that underpin a college education, and to facilitate conversation during your first few days on campus, all new students are required to read Thieves of Baghdad by Michael Bogdanos. A copy of this text is included in your Transfer Transitions packet. Complete your reading before classes begin and prepare to discuss the book with your Fall Connections group. Consider participating in Essay Contest to win free books for your first semester!
Fall Connections meetings are in bold. Transfer Transitions activities are also included in the schedule; you are encouraged to attend.
