Patrick Cottrell

Department: Political Science

Education: Ph.D., Political Science, Emory University M.A., Communications, University of Washington B.A., Russian Studies, University of Washington

Academic Interests: Patrick's research and teaching interests include U.S. foreign policy, international law and global governance, international security, and public diplomacy. His work has been published or is forthcoming in International Organization, the European Journal of International Relations, Foreign Policy Analysis, among others. Before pursuing his doctorate at Wisconsin, Patrick worked at the U.S. Department of State in the Bureaus of Political-Military Affairs and Nonproliferation. Upcoming courses (tentative)

Hobbies: Playing almost any sport with a ball; all things Italy (I've lived there for almost 5 years of my life); travel and exploring new cities by foot; cooking; watching the San Diego Padres, San Diego Chargers, LA Clippers disappoint me every year; hiking and running; horseshoes; listening to music and watching movies; spending time with my friends and family, especially my wife Erika and two little girls Syd (7) and Elsa (5).

Favorite People: My family and friends.

Random Fact: I won a car at Disneyland when I was 11 years old.

Depressing Fact: I flew to Pittsburgh to watch the Chargers lose to the Steelers in the playoffs two years ago. It was cold.

Embarrassing Fact: I watch American Idol. This year I even dialed in to vote.

Exciting Fact: I've been skydiving. I won't do it again though.
