Help! I’m having trouble deciding on a major.

How do I get involved on campus?

Linfield offers a variety of clubs and organizations in which you can get involved.  Review the ASLC (Associated Students of Linfield College) Handbook (available from Student Services) or look at the ASLC web pages to learn what is happening on campus.



My roommate and I aren’t getting along.  What should I do?

Roommate problems can often be resolved if the people involved can discuss the matter.  If this is unsuccessful, contact your Resident Advisor or, in the alternative, make an appointment in the counseling center.  There are counselors available who are specially trained in conflict resolution.



I’m struggling in my classes.  Where can I go for help?

The Office of Learning Support Services offers many services to help students with time management, note taking and test taking strategies.  Tutoring for specific courses is also available.  For more information, visit the Learning Support Services website.



Can I take summer classes and transfer them to Linfield?

Yes.  Credit earned at another accredited institution can be transferred to Linfield and applied toward a student’s academic program.  Students wishing to take classes at another school may obtain pre-approval for such work by completing the Approval for Study at a Domestic Institution Outside Linfield College form (available from the Registrar’s office).



How do I change advisors?

Students are welcome to change advisors at any time, however once a major has been chosen, the advisor must be in that department.  Change of advisor requires signatures from the old and new advisor.  Students uncertain about the choice of a new advisor should ask for assistance from the Office of Academic Advising.



I’m double majoring. Do I need to declare an advisor for each major?

It is not required to declare an advisor in each of your majors, though you must have a faculty advisor in the department of one of your majors.  However, you are strongly encouraged to consult faculty members in each of your majors.
