Non-Linfield Programs


Fall Programs (approx. Sept. - Dec.)

Programs available both Fall and Spring

(Students select their program of choice in consultation with IPO, academic units, and advisers)



·         Semester varies by program/organization.


·         Foreign transcripts must be evaluated on a course-by-course basis by an outside-accredited evaluator.


·         Credits do not count toward GPA.


·         Students must complete the “leave of absence” and “permit to study at another institution” forms to participate in non-Linfield study abroad programs.


·         Students must complete the “Preliminary International Transfer Course Approval” form from the Registrar’s Office prior to departure in order to have credits earned count towards a major/minor or LC.


·         Students usually cannot take their full Linfield aid package with them, but some federal and state aid may apply. (Consult with the Financial Aid office).

Spring Programs

(approx. Jan-May)

·   Galway, Ireland


Students who have successfully completed at least one   semester at Linfield are eligible to apply.


·         Many of the 30 program locations require foreign language preparation.


·         A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required for all programs, with the exception of Barcelona, Ireland, Norway, Australia and New Zealand, which require a 3.0; Beijing and England require 3.2.


·         All credits earned count toward graduation.


·         Grades will be calculated into the student’s cumulative GPA on the Linfield transcript.


·         IPO processes credit transfer through the Registrar’s Office.


·         Students must provide course syllabus and/or description.


·         IPO is in regular contact with overseas associates to monitor the overall quality of each program.


·         IPO provides assistance in non-academic areas as well.


·         Linfield provides the cost of the round-trip airfare for the first study abroad program through Linfield for qualified students during the academic year.


·         Students may apply their full financial aid package from Linfield.


·         Students are provided with orientation sessions at Linfield as well as on-site at each program location.
