Linfield College offers a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences – Health Administration on the Portland Campus. McMinnville students must complete prerequisite coursework to be eligible to migrate to the Portland Campus. Interested students must meet with a transfer advisor for further details.
STUDENTS WHO COMPLETE THIS MAJOR HAVE MANY OPPORTUNITIES FOLLOWING GRADUATION, INCLUDING:
- Health administration in non profit agencies
- Health administration in government at city, county, and state levels
- Health care administration in hospitals or other health care facilities such as clinics, outpatient facilities, assisted living and hospice care
- Administration in pharmaceutical companies
- Administration in global and international health agencies
- Administration in health insurance companies, medical equipment and materials companies
- Graduate education in health care administration, business, etc.
FIRST-YEAR GUIDELINES
FALL SEMESTER
- Enroll in one required course:
- PSYC 101 Survey of Psychology
- Enroll in business courses (if possible) :
- BUSN 260 Financial Accounting (math proficiency required)
- ECON 210 Principles of Economics (math proficiency required)
- Enroll in an INQS (this may also be completed in Spring)
- Fill your schedule with courses for the Linfield Curriculum (LC) requirements and/or a second major (if you have one) or minor courses (not QR or IS - these will be met by MATH 140 and PSYC 101, respectively).
- Meet with a health science transfer advisor: Debbi Canepa (dcanepa@linfield.edu, x2318) or Nancy Broshot (x2753)
JAN TERM (not required)
- Enroll in one of the following courses:
- MATH 140 Statistics
- PSYC 101 Survey of Psychology or PSYC 155 Life Span Developmental Psychology
- LC
SPRING SEMESTER:
- Enroll in one required course
- MATH 140 Statistics
- MATH 160 Finite Math with Calculus
- PSYC 101 Survey of Psychology or PSYC 155 Life Span Developmental Psychology
- Enroll in business courses
- BUSN 261 Managerial Accounting (prereq is BUSN 260)
- ECON 210 Principles of Economics (math proficiency required)
- Enroll in an INQS if not completed in Fall or Jan Term
- Fill your schedule with courses for the Linfield Curriculum requirements and/or a second major (if you have one)
OTHER MAJOR/MINOR SPECIFIC ADVISING INFORMATION:
- If time permits in your schedule consider taking a paracurricular course
- Consider taking HHPA 170 or 171 Peer Health Education.
