GUIDELINES FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENT

FALL SEMESTER:

  • COMP 121 Introduction to the Internet and World Wide Web (4 credits)
  • AAVC 100  Intro to Studio (4 credits)
  • MSCM 150 Intro to Mass Communications (3 credits)        

SPRING SEMESTER:

  • COMP 131  Computers in Modern society (3 credits)
  • AAVC 110  Intro to Visual Culture (4 credits)
  • MSCM 329  Visual Communications: Digital (4 credits)


NOTE: It is advisable to take COMP 160 no later than the fall semester of sophomore year. It may be taken by freshmen, however this is a challenging course.

AAVC 110: Intro to Visual Culture (4 credits)
AAVC 242: Electronic Media (4 credits)

COMP 160: Discrete Structures I (3 credits)      
COMP 260: Database Management Systems (3 credits)
MSCM 150: Intro to Mass Communication (3 credits)
MSCM 337: Mass Media and the Law (4 credits)
EART 485: Electronic Arts Seminar (3 credits)
(offered every other spring)

MUSC 225 and up to 6 other credits in music may be substituted for the above electives.
(12 elective credits must be a 300 level or above)
