GUIDELINES FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
FALL SEMESTER:
One of the following:
- AAVC 100: Introduction to Studio Image management, design, critical approaches and creative studio practices in a variety of media. Fall. $50 lab fee. 4 credits. (CS)
- AAVC 120: Drawing Fundamentals of gesture, value, contour, and perspective drawing in various media. Expressive, critical and thematic development. Fall. $50 lab fee. 4 credits. (CS)
- AAVC 110: Visual Culture Introductory survey examining critical approaches to interpreting imagery in diverse cultural contexts throughout history. Intended to develop an awareness of the power of visual materials, such as propaganda and advertising, within the socio-cultural, political, philosophical and economic forces that encode imagery with meaning. Fall and Spring. $25 lab fee. 4 credits (CS or VP)
Spring Semester:
One of the following:
- AAVC 100: Introduction to Studio See above
- AAVC 110: Introduction to Visual Culture See above
- AAVC 120: Drawing See above
Additional Advising Information
By the end of the second year:
Students should have completed all of the foundation classes. These include:
- AAVC 100
- AAVC 101
- AAVC 110
- AAVC 120
NOTE: If majors want to follow the honor's track, they must take Portfolio I & II AAVC 390-391 during their junior year and Thesis AAVC 490-491 during their senior year.
