Accessing Services
Individual Appointments
- Contact the Learning Support Services office (Walker 124) to schedule an appointment.
Tutoring Services
An Individual tutor is assigned to a particular student or small
group that has requested tutoring services. Both the tutor and the
student must make prior arrangements with LSS before tutoring can begin.
Class
Study Sessions are facilitated by a staff tutor that is assigned to a
particular class where the tutoring is available at designated times
only. These sessions are offered on a drop-in basis. NOTE: There may
be several students in a session at any given time.
Procedure for Accessing Individual or Small Group Tutoring
Do this within the first two weeks of the semester
- Make an appointment with the LSS staff (Walker 124)
- Complete an Application for Services
Procedure for Accessing Class Study Sessions
- The time and location of these study sessions is generally announced in class and is also available through LSS (Walker 124)
- These services are offered on a drop-in basis
Peer Mentor
Peer mentors are made available to students on an as needed, per student request basis. Much thought goes into matching a student with their mentor. Mentors serve as co-active coaches; helping students develop and articulate their personal and academic purpose and goals.
Procedure for Accessing Peer Mentoring Services
Do this within the first two weeks of the semester
- Make an appointment with the LSS staff (Walker 124)
- Complete an Application for Services
- Fill out a Request To Get A Peer Mentor, Note Taker, Reader, and/or ASL Interpreter form
Want To Be A Tutor or Mentor?
Tutors and Mentors are required to have an advanced level of skill in a particular course and faculty approval.
- Make an appointment with Eileen Dowty, Learning Support Services Coordinator (Walker 124) to discuss the requirements and job responsibilities.
